Learning about word families is an essential skill for helping young readers become familiar with both the sounds and the spelling of words. These silly stories highlight common rhyming words with endings that are spelled the same way. This series is a fun way to introduce phonics and early literacy skills.

5.0 out of 5 stars A ‘real’ story to encourage reluctant readers., May 5, 2014
By Richard and Liz   May 5, 2014
This review is from: Out for Trout (Word Families) (Library Binding)
Out for Trout gets young readers learning/practicing the ‘out’ sound along with other words including wait and bait. It is a story about a boy going fishing with his dad and sister. The photography is clear and interesting adding an extra incentive for young readers to read the book to see what happens.
Highly recommended and look forward to reading the rest in the series.
